2026 College of Science Graduate Student Award for Outstanding Teaching

Congratulations to Steward Observatory recent PhD recipient, Hayden Foote, for winning the 2026 College of Science Graduate Award for OutstandingTeaching for the Department of Astronomy!  The award is given to outstanding graduate students for their teaching or mentoring that goes above and beyond what is required, including positive evaluations or other feedback from students and a demonstrated commitment to supporting student success.

Hayden has spent the past year as the Graduate Student Coordinator for TIMESTEP's Astronomical Software Engineering Internship where undergraduate astronomy and physics students learn software engineering skills in an astronomical research context. His expertise helps the students find jobs after graduating.  The TAP Member also served as a teaching assistant for the Theoretical Astrophysics (ASTR 400B) and Exploring our Universe (ASTR 170B) courses.
