NASA awarded funding to Feryal Ozel, Kris Klein, and Dimitrios Psaltis for their project “Hybrid Kinetic-GRMHD simulations of Black Hole Accretion with Data-Calibrated Electron Physics.”

The project aims to address two main aspects of electron thermodynamics and acceleration in two temperature plasmas by developing a model for electron heating, taking advantage of existing HELIOS and anticipated Solar Parker Probe data.

Additionally, the project will develop a hybrid kinetic-GRMHD simulation algorithm to calculate the large scale dynamics of relativistic electrons in accretion flows around black holes.
